Chisholm Trail RSVP-PediPlace (Lewisville/ Dallas)

PediPlace is a medical home for children from birth through eighteen years of age throughout North Texas who are uninsured or who qualify for Medicaid or CHIP (Children’s Health Insurance Program) benefits. Our service model, primarily utilizing nurse practitioners or physician assistants, provides quality care at lower costs. While not a free clinic, PediPlace will not deny services if a family is unable to pay. Our primary care pediatric services are designed to meet the unique situation of each patient and include: Treatment of illnesses, Preventive (Well-Child) care including immunizations, Hearing and vision screenings, Treatment of asthma and other chronic illnesses, Referrals for specialized care, and Newborn parent health and child safety education. During our 21 years of service, we have made healthcare a reality for over 20,500 North Texas children in more than 313,000 office visits. In 2014, we provided primary pediatric healthcare services to 6,143 patients in 23,857 office visits and established 1,753 new patients, which included 531 newborn children. PediPlace is seeking a VISTA member to develop and implement marketing and communication campaigns through the use of social media, create speaking opportunities through the development of community partnerships and develop a Speaker's Bureau orientation and training program. The VISTA member must have experience with social media, proficient computer skills and be able to work independently after through training.

Member Duties : The VISTA member at PediPlace will develop and implement social media campaigns, create speaking opportunities through the development of partnerships with civic, religious and business organizations, an develop a Speaker’s Bureau orientation and training program to educate the community about PediPlace’s services, programs and events as well as to encourage community involvement through volunteering and donations. These efforts will break the cycle of poverty through the expansion of existing programs offered by PediPlace to continue to offer low or no-cost, quality medical care to children of low-income families. The VISTA will build PediPlace’s capacity through community outreach and education through the Speaker’s Bureau and an aggressive social media marketing plan. The VISTA will create a “Train the Trainer” program that will be used for new Speaker’s Bureau volunteers.
