UACE Pima AZ Project Wet Water Educator
 
 
 
Under the direction of the Arizona Project WET (APW) Tucson Water Education Coordinator and Assistant Coordinator, qualified applicants will be trained to become part of a team of Water Educators. The primary purpose of the Water Educator is to deliver locally relevant water education programs to Tucson-area school districts. These programs include: • Groundwater Flow Model presentations to 3rd and 6th grade classrooms • Sweetwater Wetlands Outdoor Water Festivals for 3rd grade classrooms • School Water Audits with middle and high school classrooms • Teacher Professional Development All necessary training is provided through Arizona Project WET. Candidates should have a strong interest in inquiry-based water education. Basic knowledge of educational principles and methods should be enhanced with creativity and flexibility. Strong communication skills are a must, along with the ability to translate technical information into age-appropriate presentations. Must be available to work at minimum 3 mornings a week from 7:30 am – 1 pm. During the school year, when lessons are being taught, the member will average 15 to 20 hours per week. When school is not in session, members will work a minimum of 5 hours per week.

Member Duties : Facilitate groundwater flow model presentations in fourth & middle school classrooms •Present scripted, water-related lessons at Sweetwater Wetlands Water Festivals in an engaging, inquiry-based manner •Facilitate middle-high school student learning in field trips to Sweetwater Wetlands using Discovery Program, USA Phenology Network, & guided tours •Visit school sites & work with teachers interested in installing rainwater harvesting systems •Participate in Rainwater Harvesting installations alongside students & parents •Manage the logistics of Sweetwater Wetlands trips including timely set up & take down •Communicate appropriately with classroom teachers, other adults & students •Promote student discovery & engagement with STEM disciplines through hands-on, minds-on lessons •Provide interactive engaging activities and information at public events •Share a love of the outdoors and passion for conserving water with students
