ESW operates Camp Wawbeek and Respite Camp in Wisconsin Dells, WI, two therapeutic recreation programs for children, youth, and adults with a wide range of disabilities. Campers engage in a full range of accessible activities in a safe and supportive environment which provides from 1:1 to 3:1 care, depending on severity of disability, while parents and caregivers receive a much-needed respite from primary caregiver responsibilities. Member Duties : The Respite Apprentice provides recreation and care for children, youth, and adults with disabilities who attend Respite Camp weekends. Members are responsible for activity programming, encouraging campers to participate in camp activities, ensuring camper safety, and promoting and assisting with personal care. Members receive room and board (housing and meals) during weekends at camp, a living allowance of $1,250, and an education award of $1,230.69 upon successful completion of the program. Required weekends of service in 2018 include: January 13-15 (training + MLK Day of Service), January 26-28, February 9-11, March 2-4, March 9-11, April 20-22, and April 27-29.
