AARP New Hampshire Volunteer Engagement VISTA
AARP New Hampshire, in collaboration with partners and community volunteers seeks to build out a new volunteer framework for implementing community driven projects that will make Greater Manchester more age-friendly and livable. The goal is to fortify the leadership roles with training and resources, recruit and grow the volunteer corps, and create specific community based projects that will increase the livability of the community through civic engagement, transportation, outdoor spaces & recreation, access to community services, housing, and social engagement. AARP New Hampshire seeks to extend its reach to the 50+ and their families, including low income and multicultural populations in Greater Manchester and statewide by strengthening volunteer capacity and developing volunteer leadership to complement existing staff and volunteer efforts. AARP programs and services we hope to extend throughout the Greater Manchester communities include, but are not limited to: financial literacy and management, Local Member Offerings or Discounts to local cultural and sporting events, educational programs and resources on caregiving and Social Security, and age-friendly initiatives for the community that will impact transportation and housing. Simply stated, the impact of this project will give AARP a sustainable presence in Greater Manchester and statewide through its volunteer leaders and grassroots volunteers. This will enable AARP New Hampshire to extend our reach and engage low-income and/or isolated seniors in Greater Manchester. In essence, we will strive to equip more individuals and their families to live their best life as they age right in their own community.
