The IRC in New York AmeriCorps Economic Empowerment Associat
 
 
 
The AmeriCorps Economic Empowerment Associate will be responsible for delivery, expansion, and enhancement of educational classes and mentoring designed to ensure refugee and asylee clients’ capacity for early self sufficiency and long term economic mobility and empowerment. The Associate will work closely with colleagues in Education & Learning, Case Management, Employment, Immigration, and Community Integration to ensure communication and effective, coordinated support. The Associate will also support job development activities through production of written materials and presentations that highlight the skills and drive of IRC clients and educate potential employers on the IRC’s work and success.

Member Duties : -Facilitate implementation of financial literacy, work readiness, career education classes & assist IRC staff in supervising instructors & curriculum development Collaborate with colleagues to conduct outreach, communicate with client/students on a regular basis -Support job development efforts conducted by IRC NY’s Economic Empowerment team to increase the number and quality of employment opportunities available to clients -Support client economic mobility and job placement through coordination of IRC’s College & Career Readiness activities, including one-on-one mentoring, counseling, college and career visits and workshops -Develop, administer, track results of career education activities including pre and post tests -Maintain client files -Recruit, hire, and train volunteer instructors and mentors in coordination with the Family Education Coordinator and Volunteer & Communications Coordinator -Complete all required reporting on time, comply with all agency policies, protocols
