The IRC in NY Financial Literacy & Education Associate
 
 
 
The AmeriCorps Financial Literacy & Career Education Associate will be responsible for delivery, expansion, and enhancement of educational classes and mentoring designed to ensure refugee and asylee clients’ capacity for early self sufficiency and long term economic mobility and empowerment. The Associate will work closely with colleagues in Education & Learning, Case Management, Employment, Immigration, and Community Integration to ensure communication and effective, coordinated support. The Associate will also support job development activities through production of written materials and presentations that highlight the skills and drive of IRC clients and educate potential employers on the IRC’s work and success.

Member Duties : Facilitate implementation of financial literacy, work readiness, and other career education/development classes, including assisting IRC staff in supervising instructors and curriculum development Collaborate with interdepartmental colleagues to conduct outreach Support job development efforts conducted by IRC NY’s Economic Empowerment team to increase the number and quality of employment opportunities available to clients Support client economic mobility and job placement through coordination of IRC’s College & Career Readiness activities, including one-on-one mentoring and counseling, college and career visits and workshops Develop, administer and track results of career education activities Maintain client files Recruit, hire, and train volunteer instructors and mentors in coordination with Adult Education Coordinator and Volunteer & Communications Coordinator Complete all required reporting on time and comply with all agency policies and protocols
