AmeriCorps NCCC Team Leader - Fall 2011

AmeriCorps NCCC (National Civilian Community Corps) is a full-time, team-based residential program for people ages 18-24. Team leaders apply and are selected to serve at one of five regional campuses, located in Denver, CO; Sacramento, CA; Perry Point, MD; Vinton, IA; and Vicksburg, MS. The mission of AmeriCorps NCCC is to strengthen communities and develop leaders through team-based national and community service. NCCC requires an 11-month commitment of its team leaders, who have a demonstrated leadership background and a strong interest and willingness to participate in a national service program. Team leaders lead teams of 8-12 members who perform service projects throughout the region of their assigned campus. Projects are developed in conjunction with sponsoring organizations and address critical needs in the areas of natural and other disasters, infrastructure improvement, environmental stewardship and conservation, energy conservation, and urban and rural development. Teams can expect to complete between 4-6 projects during their term of service. During their term of service, team leaders are expected to be the primary point of contact for the team and the program staff. Housing is provided by the NCCC, either at the campus or at the project site. Applications submitted for team leader positions in the Fall 2011 cycle will be considered at all of our fall cycle campuses - Pacific, Southern, and Southwest Regions - which all open in August. The team leader selection process is handled at the campus level with the Pacific, Southern, and Southwest campuses extending offers simultaneously in May. Please visit www.americorps.org/nccc to learn more about the program and http://www.americorps.gov/for_individuals/alumni/join_nccc_leader.asp to learn more about being an NCCC team leader. Additionally, there is an NCCC frequently asked question section located at www.americorps.gov/for_individuals/faq/index.asp.
