The AmeriCorps Economic Empowerment Associate plays a critical role in improving client access to educational opportunities that promote economic empowerment and self-advancement. Early and ongoing learning opportunities support refugees and other humanitarian entrants on their journey from surviving to thriving in the US. The Associate organizes scheduling and logistics for approximately 300 refugees, asylees and other immigrants annually. The Associate enrolls, assesses and tracks client attendance, participation and retention in job readiness, ESL, financial literacy and cultural orientation classes. Additionally, the Associate works closely with interns and community partners to plan and implement programming. This position reports to the Resettlement Director.

Member Duties : (1)Organize daily, weekly, and monthly adult education schedule, including ESOL, financial literacy, job readiness and cultural orientation classes; (2)Develop and facilitate job readiness classes and community field trips to increase client understanding of US workforce practices, including job search, application, interviewing; (3) Enroll and track retention in ESOL classes; (4) Supervise volunteers instructing and supporting classes for newly arrived refugees; (5) Enter student attendance and case notes daily in ETO and other databases and follow up with non-attending students; (6) Communicate student attendance, progress and issues/concerns with caseworkers, employment specialist and other IRC staff; (7) Participate in meetings between employment, case management and education staff to reinforce program compliance; (8) Participate in staff meetings, professional development activities.
