he AmeriCorps Economic Empowerment Associate- Job Training is a one-year position responsible for initiating and developing partnerships with community organizations as well as employers to expand on current job skills training classes for newly arrived refugee clients. The Associate will recruit, train and develop volunteers from local employers that can share information on the types of jobs available to the refugee community and provide an understanding of the skills required to successfully secure employment in various employment sectors. Additionally, this position will develop job practicum sites where clients can volunteer at local schools, hospitals and other local institutions that will allow clients to build relationships with potential employers, obtain on-the-job training, and foster a sense of community development through volunteerism. This position reports to the Education & Learning Manager.

Member Duties : • Expand upon existing job training curriculum. • Implement and conduct vocational training courses that include practice interviews, creation of resumes, and job skills development sessions. • Recruit, train and supervise volunteers from specific sectors (such as retail sales, maintenance, hospitality, light manufacturing and food service) to conduct mentoring sessions with clients. • Implement and expand a service learning initiative that promotes volunteerism at schools, hospitals and other local institutions, enabling clients to build relationships with potential employers, obtain on-the-job training, and help foster community development. • Develop and maintain a master schedule of volunteer opportunities and mentoring sessions. • Maintain records in a master database to track progress towards program goals.
