VIP Fellows will be placed at established community nonprofit and educational organizations providing services to our community’s children and families. This position is responsible for improving the capacity of the placement site to attract and utilize high value (skilled and corporate) volunteers in order to increase services to the community. Over the course of the 1700-hour term, each VIP Fellow will recruit, train, and retain about 50 volunteers; build business partnerships for financial and volunteer support; and build capacity within the Partner Site volunteer program to provide the support, skills and resources volunteers need to be successful. As a VIP Fellow, you will be part of a team serving in different agencies throughout our community. You will build a legacy of volunteer infrastructure that will allow your partner site to provide services for years to come. You will spend time in the community, building partnerships, and forging lasting relationships. This position is a valuable opportunity to develop and apply your leadership and community organizing skills to make a lasting difference in the lives of children, youth, their families, and the local community. The Jewish Federation of Greater Los Angeles seeks VIP Fellows to serve with nonsectarian, education-based nonprofit organizations in the Los Angeles community. These organizations focus on increasing literacy skills among low-income youth, primarily elementary students in public schools. TO APPLY TO THESE POSITIONS, PLEASE SEND A RESUME AND COVER LETTER TO klarsen@jewishla.org IN ADDITION TO SUBMITTING THE AMERICORPS APPLICATION.
