Building Asset Development Coalitions

The goals of the program are to: a. Improve access to services for low-income people to enhance financial capabilities including financial services, financial education, and savings b. Improve community asset-building learning and engagement through building the capacity of local asset-building coalitions, c. Increase the capacity of the local community agency to deliver services to low-income residents, d. Increase the capacity of the VISTA asset-building network to demonstrate effectiveness through the sharing of communications and strategies VISTAs will have the opportunity to recruit partners to participate in local coalitions, assess community resources available, and work as part of a statewide team designed to capture the landscape for asset-development in the state. They are also part of the team at their of community agencies, and work to develop resources and systems to increase the capacity of their agency.

Member Duties : The project places 12 VISTA members and a VISTA Leader in community organizations across North Carolina. The VISTA will work with their site's leadership on projects including fund development, recruitment of volunteers, marketing programs, and outreach. They will support the local asset-building coalition in tasks including meeting arrangements, agendas, minutes, work plans and responsibilities. They will also work as a member of the statewide team to document North Carolina's opportunities for low-income people to move up the economic ladder. We currently have an openings in several cities in North Carolina.
