YouthCare Education Specialist
 
 
 
Education services at YouthCare's Orion Center provide youth with the opportunity to work towards their broader life goals; some engage via academic enrichment programming, and some seek to complete their GED by attending GED class (operating in partnership with Interagency Academy of Seattle Public Schools). The AmeriCorps member will serve students in the GED program and recent graduates from the program who are seeking other educational/career opportunities. The position is open until filled, with interviews held late August or early September with a start date of late September or early October.

Member Duties : The AmeriCorps member will provide individualized tutoring to participants in the GED program. The member will be encouraged to prepare and teach small group lessons and/or lead small group activities. The member will also support outreach efforts to other YouthCare sites regarding the GED program. The member will support in facilitating post-GED workshops with youth under the guidance of the GED supervisor.
