American Red Cross - Service to Armed Forces - Spokane, WA

The Red Cross Service to the Armed Forces program strives to provide emergency notifications, family follow-up, deployment and reintegration support and veteran outreach within every community. Members will further the Red Cross SAF Mission of providing humanitarian support to service members, veterans and their families around the clock, around the globe, under a trusted symbol, by continuing to reach out and support our military family in meaningful ways, appropriate to the military population in each respective area. Our proposed AmeriCorps project builds on our existing programs and we would ask incoming members to continue to strengthen and sustain existing SAF programs in support of military members, veterans and their families, and also continue to build community partnerships throughout the region, creating a network of support resources for the armed services. Red Cross SAF programs include providing emergency notifications and family follow-up, offering Pysch First Aid: Coping with Deployments classes, Reconnection reintegration workshops, and military family networking events. WSC members will support veterans through the Visiting Vets program and other direct outreach at Veterans Homes and VSO's, and continue to offer the Veterans Legacy Project to veterans throughout the region. Recruiting, engaging, and communication and sustaining SAF volunteers will be an improtant part of this position, and members will also be asked to support Yellow Ribbon events, and partner with active, Guard and Reserve commands in support of their events and services. Other seasonal events throughout the year include but are not limited to, Make a Difference Day projects, Armed Forces Day events, and Holiday Mail for Heroes.
