Red Cross Disaster Services Coordinator (Sequim, WA)
As a volunteer-led non-profit organization, the American Red Cross relies heavily on our volunteers to carry out the mission of helping people to prevent, prepare for, and respond to disasters. Volunteers make up 98% of the total work force in the chapter. The program empowers 200 plus volunteers to lead and carry on activities to strengthen and build capacity within the Olympic Peninsula chapter’s jurisdiction. The Olympic Peninsula Chapter serves both Jefferson and Clallam counties with offices in Port Townsend and Sequim. The AmeriCorps member will be stationed in the Sequim office and will serve as a member of the Emergency/Volunteer Services department. The Emergency Services department provides compassionate assistance and relief to individuals and families who have been affected by disaster. Over the next three years, the chapter will build its Community Preparedness Education program highlighting The Safe In The Sound campaign to enhance community preparedness and resilience.
