Are you passionate about financial stability and education? Do you enjoy working directly with people while advocating for community and economic development? We are developing a dynamic team of 28 service-minded, results-driven candidates who will provide direct financial stability services to low-income individuals and families throughout the Upstate of South Carolina, leading them into the Cycle of Success. Current members have helped to provide a savings of over $1.8 million in tax preparation fees and aided community members in receiving over $9 million in refunds. Additionally, members have provided over 3500 individuals and families with financial literacy services. Selected candidates will have the opportunity to serve with internationally leading organizations like United Way, learn from experts in the nonprofit field, and gain practical experience in community and economic development, community outreach, and a variety of other areas. This is a great opportunity for recent graduates, retirees, or anyone who is interested in starting a career in the nonprofit field. If you have the desire to serve others, have skills or experience related to communications, recruitment, social services, and community organization, you would be a great fit for our program. Our partner host sites for 2019-2020 are as follows: United Way of Greenville County (Grant Holder), United Way of Laurens County, United Way of Anderson County, United Way of Pickens, Behavioral Health of Pickens, Community Works, Dream Center of Pickens, Goodwill (Berea, Simpsonville, and Easley locations), Greenville Technical College Greer Relief, Mill Community Ministries, Prisma Access Health - Easley, Rebuild Upstate, SC Empowerment Centre – Joanna, United Ministries, Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program

Member Duties : Join a passionate team of 28 members helping the break the cycle of poverty in Upstate South Carolina. Team will provide support, training, and resources to over 3500 Upstate citizens. Variety of positions available! Duties vary depending on placement; program staff matches applicant with site. Team member will assist partner nonprofits across four counties in serving their client’s needs (Greenville, Pickens, Anderson, and Laurens). Tasks may include: assisting clients in navigating community resources, benefit application assistance, teaching financial literacy, preparing tax returns, and case management. Serve full-time giving back to the local community and gain professional experience. Must be computer literate: will use computer software to assist clients. Some evenings and weekends required. Member responsible for attending a two-week orientation and monthly leadership development opportunities, submitting time sheets, and tracking program data.
