Youth Coordinator for Community Transformation
 
 
 
The AmeriCorps member will assist Clark County Public Health with engaging youth organizations working with low-income populations in efforts to promote and support access to healthy food. The member will recruit up to five youth groups (e.g.;Straight Talk on Prevention, Teen Parent Program, DECA, Boy's and Girls Club, At Home at School, Medical Magnet and Nutrition and Fitness class, Prevent!,Youth Commission) and connect and support them in community and school based activities improving access to healthy foods. Youth groups and their advisors/mentors will identify their interest in participating in one or more Community Transformation strategy including; healthy neighborhood store promotion, student store makeover and healthy food promotion, youth photovoice project, farmers market power of produce marketing and healthy neighborhood restaurants promotion. Youth will also be recruited to be social media advisors for the CCPH social media oversight committee, providing valuable information regarding effective ways to use social media for health messaging with youth. The AmeriCorps member will develop and provide a nutrition education component to each youth groups and assist with planning and implementation of youth engagement projects.

Member Duties : Engagement of up to five youth organizations in support of Community Transformation objectives and healthy eating strategies. - Provision of health education to 50 at risk or economically disadvantaged youth volunteers. - Participate on Public Health's internal social media team and engage youth as social media advisors for public health messaging and campaigns. -Development of appropriate tools, resources and communications in collaboration with chronic disease prevention work team
