Financial Opportunity Corps VISTA 2013 Baltimore

The Baltimore CASH (Creating Assets, Savings and Hope) Campaign and the Greater Homewood Community Corporation (GHCC) seek two Financial Opportunity Corps VISTA members. VISTA, an AmeriCorps program, represents a 12 month commitment to community service. Financial Opportunity Corps VISTAs will develop a new financial coaching program using provided curriculum and a train-the-trainer program to benefit low and moderate income families. Financial coaching aims to support families as they strive to reach diverse financial goals, asset building and greater financial security. Program and outreach will take place in multiple settings including GHCC’s Community Schools, Baltimore CASH’s free tax sites and other non-profit partner locations throughout Baltimore City. Financial Opportunity Corps VISTAs will develop a financial coaching program to provide long-term and episodic support to under-resourced communities, increasing financial knowledge and confidence within the communities. VISTAs will recruit and train traditional, resident and skills based volunteers to serve as financial coaches to low and moderate income individuals and families. VISTA will support both coaching provision and long-term program sustainability. Two VISTAs will serve with the Baltimore CASH Campaign to implement the financial coaching program. Baltimore VISTAs will integrate coaching services into the Greater Homewood Community Corporation’s Community Schools initiative which successfully supports families through the school system.
