| Member Duties : The YIA VISTA will partner with YIA staff to secure the resources needed to expand the Students Constructing Classrooms Initiative (SCC). Last year 98% of YIA youth enrolled in college despite our city’s 66% graduation rate. We believe all low-income students deserve this opportunity, so our VISTA will help us to leverage YIA’s unique and well-packaged model to make an even deeper impact on student achievement in Providence. Through the SCC Initiative, we will support urban teachers to master the evidence-based practice of student centered learning. We will provide professional development to teachers through local university partners—working to decrease drop out rates, increase student achievement and engagement in Providence Schools.
