CHP 2013-2014 VISTA Service
 
 
 
Community Housing Partners’ (CHP) primary mission is to create affordable, green, sustainable housing opportunities and services for the people and communities we serve. You will have the unique opportunity to contribute to your community while exploring a possible career in community development as you learn the nuts and bolts of community development and neighborhood stabilization. You will also have the opportunity to learn how to measure the impact of community development activities and services; help educate community members around residential energy efficiency and environmental stewardship; promote resident and homebuyer engagement; and gain experience in sustainable building practices. CHP's corporate development, energy solutions, architecture, homeownership and resident services divisions will offer a wide variety of learning experiences and opportunity for hands-on work. CHP’s commitment to you is to provide a great work environment and a comprehensive learning experience around the structure and workings of our non-profit community development corporation. We are seeking individuals willing to commit a year of service in Christiansburg, VA (with housing provided in Blacksburg, VA).

Member Duties : VISTA members will work across divisions to help develop programs in a variety of disciplines and service areas. Typical tasks include: assisting our single-family homeownership division with marketing, outreach and the delivery of homebuyer education; participating in capacity building activities and curriculum development for resident services; leading internal ‘green’ efforts and activities for corporate sustainability; and measuring the outcomes and impact of our services across the southeast region.
