Engage Men to Help End Domestic Violence in Alaska (Juneau)

Incidents of domestic and dating violence in Alaska reflect some of the highest per capita rates in the nation. In response to this urgent community need, leaders across Alaska stepped forward to develop training resources that provide positive male role models an opportunity to redefine masculinity and help young men explore healthier, nonviolent models of manhood. Using the interactive COMPASS guide to promote meaningful conversations between men and male youth, the Male Engagement VISTA will help recruit, train, and develop materials that promote healthy identities and strengthen positive relationships in outdoor, subsistence, and athletic settings. The VISTA member will have the opportunity to travel and connect with inspiring leaders across the beautiful state of Alaska. This position is available through the Alaska Network on Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault VISTA Program, focusing on the primary prevention of domestic and sexual violence across Alaska. BENEFITS: Monthly stipend ($1,222), rent stipend ($250), relocation (up to $1000) and settling in allowance ($550) for relocating members, health benefits, child care assistance, and Education Award ($5,775) or cash stipend.
