RurAL CAP - The Resource Basket VISTA (Anchorage)
 
 
 
This Resource Center is unique for Alaska and is primarily virtual. It supports youth-serving organizations and tribal communities to better meet the cultural needs of rural Alaska Native youth. The Resource Basket VISTA will have the opportunity to increase the website and Center’s marketing strategies for www.alaskanativeyouth.org. Some travel to Alaska villages or hubs may be possible. Professional development can include Alaska culture training and attendance at special statewide events. Focusing on prevention basics, youth development, tribal courts and community healing will be some focuses with the Center this year. Working knowledge and interest in rural Alaska is encouraged. Benefits include: Monthly living allowance ($1,222), relocation costs ($0.34/mile up to $1000) and settling in allowance ($550), health benefits, child care assistance, training, an Education Award ($5,775), and housing assistance ($1,200 per annum). *Exact training and start dates TBA*

Member Duties : The Resource Basket VISTA will assist RurAL CAP staff with the creative growth, maintenance and promotion of the Training and Technical Assistance Center: www.alaskanativeyouth.org. VISTA may be given the opportunity to travel to rural Alaska to assist with and promote the Center's purpose. This VISTA position will assist with creating online and long-distance trainings for rural Alaska, increase online interactions for productive dialogue and story-sharing, and market the Center for an increase of utilization. Strong organization and computer skills are required, creative thinking, youth development, working in a team environment as well as independently. Opportunities include some travel to rural Alaska, website and webinar experience, attending wellness and youth development-focused trainings, and cultural orientation.
