Aeon Volunteer Coordinator VISTA
 
 
 
Aeon is seeking an independent, energetic and organized individual for a full-time NeighborWorks AmeriCorps VISTA position for the 2013-2014 program year. The Volunteer Coordinator VISTA will work within Aeon’s Volunteer Program to create and to deepen relationships with local corporate groups and worship communities to support Aeon’s work in the community. The VISTA will develop skills in volunteer management, program development and gain experience working in a dynamic nonprofit environment. Aeon is an award-winning nonprofit developer, owner and manager of high-quality affordable apartment homes in the Minneapolis/St. Paul metropolitan area. Aeon has built or renovated 2,106 apartments and townhomes, which provide stability to more than 3,500 people each year – including individuals and families with low to moderate incomes and formerly homeless individuals. Established in 1986, Aeon has built quality affordable homes, connected residents to stabilizing resources and managed its properties as long-term assets. Member Duties : 1.Identify corporations and worship communities to market and promote volunteer opportunities in order to engage their employees and members as volunteers and in-kind donors. 2. Develop and manage volunteer activities that appeal to a diverse group of volunteers. 3.Nurture and develop key partnerships with new corporate and worship communities to garner additional volunteers. 4.Manage teams of volunteers to successfully complete volunteer projects at Aeon properties. Strong candidates will be skillful in motivating, managing and recognizing volunteers. Project examples might include Share-a-Meal, BINGO, landscaping, painting, and other group volunteer opportunities. 5.Develop teams of “on-call” volunteers to participate in organized volunteer activities and other opportunities for last minute and one-time volunteer needs. 6.Recruit, screen and train volunteers to staff the Homework Help program.
