2013 Summer Habitat ReStore Assistant Beaver Dam

Habitat for Humanity affiliates work in partnership with families that are in the low-income range. There are unfortunately many more families in need of safe, decent, and affordable housing than our affiliates are able to serve. In 2000, there were 2 counties in Wisconsin with poverty rates of over 15%, as of 2010, there were ten. An estimated 34%, or more than 517,000 of Wisconsin renters have “housing problems,” which means they spend more than 30% of their income for housing, are in an overcrowded unit, or don’t have complete bathroom or kitchen facilities, and unfortunately, that number is rising. These summer VISTAs will help our affiliates fill gaps that can assist with building capacity and serving more families.
