Neighborhood House Early Childhood Education

Neighborhood House’s mission is to help diverse communities of people with limited resources attain their goals for self-sufficiency, financial independence, health, and community building. Each year, our programs provide job assistance, case management, social services, emergency assistance, tutoring, youth development, health, education, elderly outreach and early childhood education to more than 20,000 low-income people in Seattle/King County. Neighborhood House AmeriCorps Members play an important role in that impact, helping to strengthen and expand school readiness and K-12 education programs at seven different Seattle and South King County public housing communities. In the 9/16/14 to 7/31/15 program year, Neighborhood House will host eight Early Childhood Education AmeriCorps Members to support Head Start programs at Seattle Housing Authority's four garden communities: High Point, New Holly, Rainier Vista and Yesler Terrace (2 Members at each site). The Early Childhood Education Members will serve directly in Head Start classrooms, engage community volunteers to support Head Start, and help parents support their children's school readiness. PLEASE NOTE: We are strongly seeking applicants who come from the immigrant and refugee communities that we serve, or that have strong knowledge of the immigrant and refugee communities living in public housing in Seattle.
