Minnesota Council of Nonprofits -- Saint Paul VISTA Program

The mission of the Minnesota Council of Nonprofits (MCN) is to inform, promote, connect and strengthen individual nonprofit organizations and the nonprofit sector. MCN is a membership organization that builds the leadership and management capacity of nonprofits across the state and in all activity areas. Four hundred MCN nonprofit members are located in Saint Paul, 153 of which are primarily formed to address issues of education, youth development, and services supporting low-income families. MCN strengthens and advances the missions of these organizations by training nonprofit leaders in nonprofit management and governance, program development, evaluation, financial management, and other essential skills, allowing these organizations to remain sustainable, reliable, and effective agents of the region’s educational attainment. The MCN AmeriCorps VISTA project will strengthen, inform and connect nonprofits addressing education achievement and education determinants in immigrant and refugee communities and communities of color in Saint Paul. MCN’s VISTA project will provide the organizations most closely working on educational attainment and issues of poverty with training, information, and organizational support that will help them access necessary resources and build supportive relationships. **This VISTA position is sponsored by the Saint Paul VISTA Program. Hosted in Mayor Chris Coleman's Office, the Saint Paul VISTA Program is comprised of a city-wide cohort of individuals -- placed at community organizations and schools -- dedicated to shaping the educational landscape for youth and families in Saint Paul.**
