Habitat for Humanity is a nonprofit, ecumenical Christian ministry that brings people together to build homes, communities and hope. Habitat welcomes partner families, volunteers and supporters from all backgrounds to join us in meeting our vision of a world where everyone has a decent place to live. Habitat for Humanity International hosts both the AmeriCorps National and AmeriCorps VISTA program in partnership with Habitat affiliates all across the United States. AmeriCorps National members are utilized by a host site to engage the community in direct service to address community needs. Member roles might include hands-on building, or supporting volunteers and partner families. HFH MidOhio, located in Columbus, OH, is seeking to fill the following opportunities: Construction Crew Leader and Community Outreach Coordination. AmeriCorps Benefits that you may be eligible for include: National • Education award - $5,550 upon successful completion of service. The Ed Award is good for seven years from the completion of service and may be transferable to certain family members if member is 55 on the first day of service. This is a taxable benefit. • Student Loan Forbearance: AmeriCorps members may be eligible to postpone the repayment of their qualified student loans through loan forbearance. While the loan is in forbearance during the term of service, interest continues to accrue. Please note that not all loans are qualified for forbearance and candidates should check with their lender to see if their loan qualifies. • Health Benefits: Members are eligible to enroll in a limited health plan. Please note this plan is does not meet the minimal essential coverage of the Affordable Care Act. • Workers compensation • Personal and sick leave (about 20 days total) • Childcare: AmeriCorps members can receive childcare benefits if they meet the eligibility requirements.

Member Duties : Construction Crew Leadership - Responsible for knowledge of construction tasks and leading crews of skilled and unskilled volunteers and partner families in those tasks, all while maintaining a safe and efficient work environment. Community Outreach Coordination – These members will help the host site raise community awareness of what can be done to improve neighborhoods. Member responsibilities can include mapping community assets and involving community members in decision-making.
