Big Brothers Big Sisters Lone Star-Full Time West Texas
 
 
 
VISTA members will establish community partnerships for the purpose of recruiting volunteers, recruiting children and developing financial support. They will help to recruit, train, an match volunteers and children; organize match activities; organize fundraising events and write grants. They will also work to establish relationships with school districts to identify children at risk of school failure. They will build partnerships with universities churches, businesses and other agencies to aid in the goal of academic success for children. Members will create volunteer training designed to incorporate intentional educational mentoring into the match relationship. They will work to plan and present programs to prepare students for high school graduation, college and careers. VISTA members will help to establish school-based mentoring programs in local schools.

Member Duties : Establish relationships with school districts and other community partnerships for the purpose of recruiting volunteers and children, and train mentors to assist children in achieving academic success. Develop match activities to encourage reading and math skills, develop programs for career and college preparation, research and write proposals for funding to sustain program, plan and implement fundraising events. Create P.R. and Marketing opportunities.
