Corps Member- ACE Arizona
 
 
 
Based out of Flagstaff, AZ, Asheville, NC and St. George, UT, ACE is offering Corps Member positions for Americans to take part in challenging outdoor projects in many of the most beautiful National Forests, National Parks and Wilderness areas in the Western United States. ACE members embody an ethic of environmental stewardship, learn practical conservation skills, and explore career options while accomplishing vital conservation projects in many of America's most spectacular open spaces. ACE corps members will work in crews of 8-12 people on direct service projects for various land management agencies/project sponsors. Typical projects include exotic species removal, trail construction and maintenance, native plant re-vegetation, fence construction, erosion control, and wilderness restoration. Members contribute their positive energy and enthusiasm in a production-oriented atmosphere in which participants are encouraged to take pride in their team's accomplishments. Member Duties : ACE AmeriCorps members will support ACE crews and/or land management agencies implement an eclectic array of conservation projects. Members will receive outdoor job skills training for the purpose of preparing our members for advancement in leadership roles and/or outdoor careers. Participants will receive a balanced set of "hard" and "soft" skills throughout their terms. Members may receive training and become proficient with chainsaw use, dry stone masonry, sustainable trail construction, CPR/First Aid, Leave No Trace, herbicide application, and project logistics in a safe and professional manner. Members will obtain soft skills and develop leadership experience by working with ACE crews and coordinate a volunteer service project. Members must have an established interest in conservation and take evident joy in tackling challenging situations with a positive, team-first mindset. Applicants must be willing to undertake arduous physical work in all types of weather and terrain.
