ShareCorps- The Healing Center, Food Services Coordinator

The Healing Center is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization serving the under-resourced in Greater Cincinnati since 1989. The Center is a safe place that offers strength and support to men, women, and children during difficult times and life's inevitable challenges. From the beginning, the goal has been to create an outreach center serving people from all walks of life, cultures, and economic backgrounds; and, to provide a wide spectrum of care, whether physical, emotional, relational, or spiritual. The Center offers caring relationships along with the practical tools needed to help people take their next step toward positive change and future success. Over 500 volunteers serve close to 4,000 men, women, and children each month, providing access to over 40 services, with the goal of helping families break the cycle of poverty. Resources for families include emergency assistance (food, clothing, auto repair, and limited financial assistance), job coaching, tutoring, computer instruction, educational programs and training, financial counseling, prayer, mentoring, and selected health care services. Member Duties : The VISTA member will be supporting our food service operations called the Market Place. He or she will be responsible for recruiting, coordinating, and training volunteers (we currently have just over 100 volunteers per month in food services, but could easily utilize another 100 volunteers) to provide quality services to our Healing Center guests. The VISTA member will also be reviewing and improving our service systems, including customer service, nutrition goals, and technology/data management resources. In addition, the VISTA member will have opportunities to solicit and increase in-kind donations. Finally, he or she will create greater awareness for the increased utilization of in-house health care, education, and other support services.
