Montana State Parks AmeriCorps 675 Hour Summer / Fall

Montana State Park AmeriCorps members love the outdoors and are passionate about improving recreational, natural, historical, and cultural experiences and opportunities for others in Montana State Parks. Our members ensure our parks remain significant, accessible, and relevant to the citizens of Montana and visitors from around the nation and world. Through our four main program goals of enhancing park land, enriching educational opportunities, building volunteer capacity, and strengthening community outreach in state parks our members will receive a comprehensive education in the parks system management and accomplish tasks that go far beyond an entry level park position. They accomplish this through creating and offering educational programs; participating in and hosting community events both within and outside the parks; and by developing volunteer opportunities that get more people involved and excited about experiencing the outdoors under the “Big Sky”. Members are also engaged in direct land management through the enhancement of park lands by developing nature trails, managing invasive species, restoring native ecosystems, and conducting other outdoor activities. Our service terms take place amid the stunning scenery, dazzling waters, geologic wonders, and cultural history of Montana State Parks. These parks are located across the state, and members will serve at individual parks according to their preferences and skills. You can learn more about our program and find our specific position descriptions at: http://stateparks.mt.gov/americorps/
