ShareCorps- Food Service Outreach Coordinator for Seniors

Middletown Area Senior Citizens is a private non-profit corporation operating a large Senior Center and Community Services program in Southwest Ohio. As a contracted provider for the Area Agency on Aging and a United Way agency, we currently provide transportation services, in-home-care, home delivered meals, a congregate meal program, outreach services, and recreation/wellness programs/activities. We estimate that we impact nearly 5800 seniors in the area each year.

Member Duties : 1. Increase the number of senior residents and others receiving meals from our facility by educating the community about our services, obtaining additional new funding for food programs, and studying the feasibility of expanding our current service area 2. Developing food program marketing materials and presenting information to groups of residents with an emphasis on minority groups 3. Identify/coordinate/cooperate with other area food program and emergency food providers to reduce duplication of services and increase the total number of area residents served throughout our community 4. Determine the feasibility and need for a community garden and if the need is supported, create a community garden project on our property by 2014 (including funding, volunteer training, and volunteer recruitment with possible intergenerational component)
