ShareCorps-Mid-Ohio Foodbank Operation Feed

Mid-Ohio Foodbank collects, warehouses and distributes food and other grocery products to over 550 food pantries, soup kitchens and emergency shelters, day care sites, and senior citizen congregate feeding sites in a 20-county area of central and eastern Ohio. In 2012, the Foodbank distributed over 46 million pounds of food, allowing our partner agencies to provide over 102,000 meals each day. Over half the food distributed in 2012 was fresh - meat, dairy, bread and produce. The Foodbank distributed a record 16.1 million pounds of produce last year.

Member Duties : This VISTA member will help launch the Operation Feed Point of Purchase program by identifying potential retail partners, recruiting partners, and developing a plan to sustain the program. Additionally, this team member will work with a variety of newly formed volunteer committees by developing training and a tracking system for volunteer hours. Finally, this VISTA will help build community awareness of Operation Feed by contributing written articles for campaign communications, representing the Foodbank and Operation Feed at community events and providing support for small campaigns and holiday food drives.
