ShareCorps- Mid-Ohio Foodbank Agriculture Coordinator

Mid-Ohio Foodbank provides food to hundreds of thousands of hungry Ohioans each year by partnering with more than 550 emergency feeding sites across central and eastern Ohio, including food pantries, soup kitchens, shelters, senior centers, and after-school programs. Since 1980, the Foodbank has been working to end hunger one nourishing meal at a time and co-create a sustainable community where everyone thrives. In 2012, the Foodbank distributed a record 46 million pounds of food & grocery products and began the launch of a new strategic plan to close the region’s meal gap (58 million more meals needed annually) by 2018, in an effort to achieve our vision of a hunger-free and healthier community.

Member Duties : This position will create a donor database specifically targeted at farmers and producers of agricultural products, conduct regular visits with these donors to explore viable options of sourcing excess product. This position will research models currently in place at other successful food banks in the national network and also work closely with the Ohio Association of Foodbanks to analyze current donation models. The candidate will be expected to create a direct agency service program that allows quicker access to perishable product. This program will be facilitated with a network of agencies, farmers and agricultural producers focused on creating a hunger-free, healthier community.
