ShareCorps-Food Pantry Collaborative Coordinator
 
 
 
Neighborhood Services, Inc. (NSI) serves its neighbors throughout the city of Columbus with a variety of assistance programs. The programs include: Food Pantry: Monthly food allotments are distributed to neighbors in need throughout Columbus. The food pantry operates as a consumer choice pantry four days a week. The food pantry serves approximately 500 individuals per month. Families receive a 7 day food supply. Clothing Room: Clothing for children ages infant – 12 yrs. is available once a month at no cost. Back to School Programs: Children receive new school clothes and school supplies throughout the year as needed. Holiday Programs: Approximately 700 families receive food baskets for Easter, Thanksgiving and/or Christmas meals. During the Holiday season, children receive toys and clothing for Christmas. The Benefit Bank: Volunteers offer application assistance for public programs and/or tax return filings by appointment. The AARP Tax Aide program: Volunteers provide tax preparation and filing for low-income individuals and seniors from January - April annually.

Member Duties : The Food Pantry Collaborative Coordinator will analyze and make recommendations about potential collaboration between food pantries to purchase food; collect in-kind donations; rationalize staff and volunteer activities; raise awareness of the issue of hunger; and lower overall operating costs. A business plan will be developed after research and assessment is completed. The Coordinator will oversee the implementation of the food pantry collaborative project in the second half of the period.
