Indy Hunger Network - Summer Servings VISTA Associate

The Indy Hunger Network (IHN) is a coalition of anti-hunger organizations in Indianapolis. Its mission is to create a system by 2015 that ensures anyone who is hungry can access the food they need. IHN works to: Foster collaboration and build on the strengths of existing food-providing community organizations; identify opportunities to make the food system work better; establish improvement projects; serve as advocates; and create awareness for hunger assistance. Currently the Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) only reaches approximately 15% of children in the greater Indianapolis area. Summer Servings is the branded promotional campaign designed to improve participation in SFSP. Summer VISTA associates will work directly with the Summer Servings coordinator to help implement effective programs to serve the needs of children during the summer. They will work across a variety of organizations and disciplines to impact program success, helping to implement the Summer Servings marketing campaign from a grassroots perspective. This position will help each VISTA associate build a professional network, gain valuable professional experience, and help IHN achieve its goal of ensuring any child who is hungry can access the food they need. In return, IHN is seeking energetic, independent, and committed individuals who will make an impact on hunger in Indianapolis well beyond their time of service. We strongly encourage diverse applicants to apply.
