Heart of Los Angeles Volunteer Project

HOLA engages and manages numerous volunteers and interns who help our staff serve the students with exceptional after-school programming in academics, arts, and athletics. HOLA serves 2,500 youth each year through structured and rigorous programs. The academic needs of these students are met through our SmartStart Elementary, Bridges Middle School, and PAT High School programs. These academic programs are supplemented with a wide variety of enrichment activities that include a full youth orchestra program, choir, private and group music lessons, visual art classes, premiere soccer and basketball leagues, language and culture classes, and more. Volunteers serve in roles such as homework aid, orchestra assistants, athletic coaches, teaching assistant, and class instructors. We also have interns who work within programs and in administrative positions such as Development and Communications. The VISTA Project will help to recruit, place, train, and support additional volunteers needed to help our students excel in school and become self-sufficient as adults.
