UCC Young Adult Service Communities
 
 
 
Young Adult Service Communities (YASC) are situated in 5 locations throughout the United States. Each YASC community offers the opportunity to serve in a service agency 4 days a week. Members experience the gifts and learn the needs of vulnerable or excluded people. One day each week, members participate in activities that enhance leadership development and spiritual exploration. Members live in community with each other and develop relationships with their local community and with YASC groups in other locations. Service positions are full-time. AmeriCorps Education grant offered is part-time. Housing, stipend and health insurance are provided. Member Duties : Members serve in partner agencies of host site and live in intentional community in a setting that includes leadership development and spiritual exploration. Service positions include: Case Worker - emergency food assistance and food security; Cultural Orientation Coordinator - refugee resettlement; Early Childhood education; Recreation Coordinator - senior living; In-take Specialist - emergency social services; Case Worker - accessing community services; Volunteer Coordinator - food stability; Schools - tutor; Arts Events Coordinator - community and at-risk youth; Community Relations Specialist - Habitat for Humanity
