2014 VetCorps Prevention Coordinator - VISTA - Atlanta, GA
 
 
 
The VetCorps project is being conducted by the Community Anti-Drug Coalitions of America (CADCA) in partnership with the National Guard with funding assistance from the Corporation for National Community Service (CNCS). The VetCorps Prevention Coordinator – VISTA (VPC) will focus on enhancing coalition's capacity to address veteran’s issues, specifically substance abuse and mental health issues, within their respective communities. The overall goal of the VetCorps project is to build the capacity of the community to support military service members and their families. Each member will be placed in one of CADCA's Community Coalitions located throughout the country to provide support to military service members and their families. CADCA will give preference to applicants who are 1) veterans, 2) military service members and their dependents to include inactive National Guard and Reserve members, 3) Coalition experience 4) Substance abuse & prevention experience.

Member Duties : Recruit volunteers to the coalition to serve VMF; Develop a community assessment on the needs of veterans, active duty military members and military families; Promote substance abuse prevention services outreach strategies; Establish liaison and coordination with the local National Guard Unit to assist in integrating the preventive education and training efforts into the overall training program; Maintain liaison with civic organizations, civilian agencies and military organizations to integrate the efforts of all community; Marketing and promoting the VetCorps project through events and fundraising activities; Evaluate progress made in achieving the programs goals; Maintain performance measurement logs and other reports.
