Veteran Leader Corps: Illinois Joining Forces (Chicago)

Under the supervision of the Senior Program Manager for IDVA, this IDVA IJF Program Manager & Women Veterans Employment Support Specialist staffed in Chicago will focus on the following program areas: • 50%: Illinois Joining Forces (IJF) – Officially launched in November 2012, IJF fulfills two key objectives: (1) to bring together community leaders, government agencies, and non-profits to drive collaboration, innovation, best practice sharing and more effective service delivery among organizations that serve veterans and their families, and (2) to provide a one-stop-shop through which service members, veterans and family members can access assistance more readily. Through IJF, IDVA refers veterans that are looking for job-readiness services, volunteer opportunities, and employment to its Working Groups to ensure effective delivery of services to veterans and volunteers assisting veterans. • 40%: Women’s Vetrepreneurship Program (WVP) – WVP represents a joint effort of IDVA and the Women’s Business Development Center (WBDC) to target women veterans who are considering business ownership as a path towards economic security and empowerment. The program includes entrepreneurial training, technical assistance, business counseling, direct lending, and business mentoring, as well as social, veteran benefit, and other support services offered and arranged through IDVA and collaborating partners. Provide outreach and logistical assistance in the planning and execution of various industry-specific hiring fairs and job-readiness seminars for veterans as well as plan events to provide opportunities for women veterans to volunteer in support of veterans. • 10%: Industry-Specific Hiring Fairs and Job-Readiness Seminars – This includes participating in the planning of seminars, fairs and program activities focused on networking, training, credentialing, and finding employment opportunities in Illinois.
