Veteran Leader Corps: Georgia Serves

Opportunities in Augusta, Brunswick and Savannah, GA We are seeking an outgoing and energetic VLC AmeriCorps Member to implement community-designed, evidence-based and/or evidence-informed action plans through the Georgia Blueprint for Veteran & Military Families in communities around the state. The Community Blueprint is a national initiative featuring a set of tools and practices that provide a framework for communities to produce positive, measurable outcomes for veterans, military members and their families. VLC members will be primarily recruited from the local area with a strong preference for veterans and military spouses to serve as project coordinators for Blueprint activities across the state. Others outside of Georgia with prior national service experience are also strongly encouraged to apply. Georgia Serves will partner with existing Blueprint Communities in greater Atlanta/North Georgia, Valdosta and Macon, and expand services into the east-central and southeastern regions along Coastal Georgia. Activities will be primarily focused on workforce readiness and job skills development, but may also support other critical needs facing veterans and their families beyond employment. Well-qualified candidates will have prior experience in education, behavioral health, housing, financial services/legal aid, family strength, reintegration, volunteer administration or a related field. In addition to direct service in Blueprint strategy areas, as Project Coordinators VLC AmeriCorps members will recruit and convene state coalition partners from their region who will help develop our statewide strategy through the assessment of existing local resources (asset-based community development resource mapping); serve adjacent communities in the region, while providing remote support for statewide initiatives and occasionally providing adjunct support to VLC members and peer communities; and collect and report evaluation and performance measurement data.
