Urban Dove Coach Across America - Site Coordinator
 
 
 
As a Coach Across America member you will serve, teach and support youth through Urban Dove, an organization that provides programming in multiple sports (please see our website for more details) for under-resourced youth. The service term you are applying for is a Full-Time stipend position and the number of hours you will be required to accrue during your service year is 1700. You will receive extensive training in the proven methods of sports-based youth development (SBYD), along with tool box of coaching techniques, team building activities and the knowledge needed to coach effectively, and you will learn how to use your sport as vehicle for social change. As a head or assistant coach, you will address some of the most pressing needs of our nation's young people: childhood obesity, academic failure and anti-social behavior. Additionally, you will have the chance to participate in a range of capacity building activities with Urban Dove. Are you ready to coach?

Member Duties : Urban Dove seeks a full time candidate who wants to use his/her passion for sports to change young lives. As a member of Coach Across America - an AmeriCorp program - candidates will work in the Urban Dove's HiRisers program – a peer mentoring program that uses the power of sports to engage, educate and energize at-risk youth in New York City (please see our website for more details). You will use your love of sports and the skills you have developed as an athlete to teach sports, communication, teamwork, leadership and other life and job skills. You will receive extensive training in coaching, youth development, non-profit management and program operations and no day will ever be the same. Working with a peer group of dedicated young professionals, you will be a part of an exciting and meaningful team that has been helping young people reach their potential for more than a decade.
