CT Campus Compact VISTA Leader

Connecticut Campus Compact (CTCC) is a statewide consortium of higher education institutions joined together to advance the public purposes of colleges and universities, to help students become engaged leaders in their communities and to strengthen communities. Our VISTA program mobilizes higher education resources to build the capacity of a key community based partner that serves low-income people. Through work with a campus and its designated partner agency, VISTA members address priority community needs in 1 of 3 focus areas: Economic Opportunity, Education, and/or Healthy Futures. CT Campus Compact VISTAs build a campus/community partnership by taking on different capacity-building activities such as: recruiting or training volunteers, writing grants and soliciting donations, creating publicity and outreach materials, conducting needs assessments and asset profiles, establishing sustainable systems and structures. The specific activities of the VISTA depend on the project goals. The CTCC VISTA Leader will assist VISTA members in developing authentic, reciprocal, meaningful and effective relationships between community partners and institutions of higher education. With nearly 8 sites statewide, the CTCC AmeriCorps VISTA program provides exciting opportunities for individuals interested in taking leadership in a progressive field. The VISTA Leader will make a statewide impact as they recruit, support and train VISTAs throughout their experience and help them to fight poverty in their host communities. As a CTCC VISTA Leader you will also work with CTCC staff on developing organizational Communications and Marketing materials. Applicants for this position MUST HAVE COMPLETED ONE YEAR OF AMERICORPS VISTA SERVICE. The position is located on the campus of University of Connecticut - West Hartford Campus.

Member Duties : The VISTA Leader will work closely with the program manager to coordinate the CTCC AmeriCorps VISTA team. The VISTA leader will: plan and coordinate VISTA trainings/meetings; assist with the 2015 VISTA member class recruitment; work collaboratively with CTCC staff to design and plan CTCC orientation; provide ongoing VISTA support via phone, email, blog and site visits. As a CTCC VISTA Leader you will assist CTCC staff with developing communications and marketing materials: develop VISTA Program Progress and Success materials; update the website with resources; and send communications to our college partners on the community engagement activities happening across the state.
