In September 2008, Harlem RBI opened the DREAM Charter School. DREAM Charter School is East Harlem's premier community-based, public charter school, where every child can and will achieve. DREAM Charter School's mission is to prepare students for high-performing high schools, colleges and beyond through a rigorous academic program that develops critical thinkers who demonstrate a love of learning, strong character, and a commitment to wellness and active citizenship. DREAM is part of the Harlem RBI family. Harlem RBI serves over 1,000 East Harlem youth by providing free, high-quality summer and after-school programs to youth ages 5-21 years in an intensive multi-year commitment that connects youth and families to age-appropriate programs and passionate professional staff over time. Harlem RBI was recently recognized as one of the Best 50 Non-Profits to Work For in the country by The Nonprofit Times.

Member Duties : • Participate on the school's Attendance Response Team, including attending monthly meetings and schedule family meetings with ART team members; • Help develop and implement innovative and sustainable attendance improvement strategies; • Create data collection tools to track attendance metrics and utilize collected data to inform attendance raising initiatives; • Communicate with parents by home visits, roundtables, etc. to encourage family engagement around student attendance performance; • Tutor and support chronically absent students through morning and afterschool intervention programs; • Create certificates, bulletin boards and other collateral around attendance goals to share with DREAM staff and students; • Additional Attendance Response Team tasks as needed.
