Boys & Girls Club of Greater Flint Academic Success VISTA
 
 
 
The Academic Success VISTA will serve at the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Flint and will be responsible for addressing the educational needs and success of Club members between the ages of 7 to 17. This VISTA member will be charged with continuing and strengthening existing educational programming as well finding new ways to meet educational needs. Resources are available for the VISTA worker and he/she will be assigned to the Unit Director and lead educational programming initiatives for all school subjects, literacy as well as volunteer tutor recruitment. This service member will also work with partnership schools to promote the program to students who are not currently attending. Additionally, the Academic Success VISTA will be responsible for planning and implementing a college tour, that will be sustained beyond the service year.

Member Duties : This VISTA member will serve at the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Flint and work to increase awareness of the need for the establishment and improvement of academic success programs at the Club. This includes tracking Club member grade reports and progress and assisting educational program staff with identifying community partners. They will work with the Unit Director and Program Coordinators, in addition to other team members, to strengthen educational programs at the Club. With lead volunteers they will work with others in the community to educate youth between the ages of 7-17 on the benefits of making a commitment to their education. This VISTA member will also help coordinate 3rd party programs. They will work with volunteers and staff to promote academic success endeavors.
