KYBankOn - Louisville

The KYBank On Network is designed to identify and serve the unbanked and underbanked population in Kentucky. VISTAs will be instrumental in helping to tie all financial empowerment efforts together, strengthening existing partnerships and developing new, assisting in the development of quality standards for financial education providers, educating through community outreach, improving communications via technology, creating program materials for distribution, data collection, training of non-profit service providers, and working directly with the network structure to achieve overall goals. In addition, VISTA workers will greatly influence the creation and sustainability of the BOK initiative by developing resources, both financial and in-kind, from foundations and other private funders that would help to secure staffing.

Member Duties : The AmeriCorps VISTA will have two main areas of focus: Financial Asset Development and Financial Literacy. Financial Asset Development will focus on public awareness of the Bank On initiative. This will involve obtaining support from local government leaders and community stakeholders, creating program materials for distribution and outreach, and establishing new partnerships or strengthening established partnerships with KYBankOn financial institutions to create a strong backbone for the initiative. Financial Literacy will focus on financial training and workshops to provide Bank On participants the tools they need to succeed. This will involve recruiting volunteers and agencies to provide financial literacy training, coordinating trainings in the local area, and assessing the success of the trainings.
