CHGA AmeriCorps
Covenant House Georgia serves hundreds of homeless and at-risk youth from the streets of Atlanta every year. It is the only program of its kind in Georgia that opens its doors to homeless youth, aged 18-21. Our range of social services includes: crisis stabilization, housing, GED classes, tutoring, educational assistance in high school and post secondary education, and job training/ life skill development.

Member Duties : o Administer tests to determine youths’ educational development. o Assist youths with reading, writing, science, social studies, math and basic computer literacy. o Provide vocational guidance and assist youths with the composition and editing of their resumes. Coordinate and execute educational and job readiness workshops. o Assist youth with immediate needs and conducting outreach as well as assisting youth in securing non cash benefits such as healthy coverage etc... o Carry out research on grants and other financial aid available to youths that are interested in higher education. o Submit monthly and quarterly statistical reports. o Collaborate with other educational and social service providers. o Assist our Residential Advisers and Case Managers with youth intake documentation and creating short term and long term goals with the youth. o Contribute to planning of special events, youth activities, and maintaining an accurate volunteer database.
