Communities In Schools of Washington

In Washington 1 in 5 high school students do not graduate on time. Make a difference in a young person's life while developing professional skills and making an impact through national service. Communities In Schools of Washington (CIS) has an exciting AmeriCorps opportunity for individuals committed to improving the lives of children in the Washington State area. WE ARE NOW RECRUITING FULL-TIME AMERICORPS MEMBERS FOR THE 2018-19 ACADEMIC YEAR. (Full Time = 10.5 months and 1700 hours of service) Location options: Federal Way, Lakewood, Puyallup, Renton, Seattle, Spokane, Tumwater and Bellingham. Communities In Schools (CIS) is the nation's leading dropout prevention organization. The mission of CIS is to surround students with a community of support, empowering them to stay in school and achieve in life. Through school-based coordination, CIS connects students and their families to critical community resources to address children’s unmet needs. CIS helps kids overcome challenges both inside and outside the classroom so they can do their best in school. Children cannot learn at their potential when they are in crisis or face significant non-academic needs. We focus on meeting these core needs. We work closely with local school districts, social service organizations and businesses to connect schools with the resources that facilitate academic success and the development of important life skills. CIS makes a difference for children in the schools it serves. Benefits: Taxable living allowance of $13,750. At the completion of service, members receive a $5920 Segal Education Award that can be used toward qualified educational expenses for up to 7 years. Members are eligible for health and child care benefits (child care benefits subject to income guidelines). For more information go to www.ciswa.org
