Cook Inlet Housing - Resident Engagement (Anchorage)

Anchorage, Alaska is a diverse, urban community with easy access to the arts, natural beauty and adventure. With over 90 world languages spoken within our school system, it really is a unique place to live, work, and play. Your success will be demonstrated by the Alaskan stories of urban moose, the midnight sun, and northern lights you collect while you're here. You will also increase your cultural competency, analytical abilities, and leadership skills. The goal of Cook Inlet Housing’s (CIHA) Resident Engagement VISTA project is to plan and implement programs that improve CIHA’s residents’ quality of life. Measures of success for seniors will include improvement in the six areas of senior/elder wellness (intellectual, physical, social, spiritual, financial, emotional), and an increased number of residents able to age in place, without having to move from living independently to more expensive and restrictive assisted living or institutional environments. For families residing in our affordable housing properties, success will include progress toward achieving economic independence and housing self-sufficiency, which can include measures such as lower amounts of rental assistance, reduced delinquency in rent or utilities, fewer warnings and evictions, and increased successful tenancies. Benefits include: Monthly living allowance ($1,222), relocation costs ($0.34/mile up to $1000) and settling in allowance ($550), health benefits, child care assistance, training, and an Education Award ($5,775) or cash stipend ($1,500).
