Artist in Service - Teen Program

The Advanced Teen Artist Program serves teens attending Arts Corps classes who want to pursue advanced instruction and programming activities in their chosen art form. Advanced programming includes the Youth Speaks program supporting youth poets in Seattle, and the All Access program with open teen classes in music production, glee club, break dance and spoken word poetry. One AmeriCorps member will support the Youth Speaks program and one member will support the All Access program. The goals of the advanced teen program are to help youth develop advanced level artistic skills in spoken word/poetry, music production, performing arts and dance; make classes accessible to students with the least access to arts learning opportunities; and foster creative habits of mind among youth participants. Each member will provide direct programming 32 hours per week, with an additional 8 hours per week spent in professional development, service and planning off site.
