Youth Ambassador

Members will be primarily responsible for coordinating mentor programming at identified schools and community sites in Kent and New Castle County, Delaware. In addition, members will be responsible for connecting mentees with community and school services and programs. Members will also identify community resources and establish a school wide community service activity. Through the Youth Ambassadors program AmeriCorps members will serve between October 1, 2012 and September 30, 2013 at identified schools and community sites. AmeriCorps members will play a vital role in ensuring that mentor programming is effectively established, or continue to develop a program that is already in existence. Members will ensure the mentoring programs follow the Elements of Effective Practice of MENTOR. They will also ensure that mentees in their identified schools and community sites are connected with academic, physical and/or social services needed to be successful. To provide these services members will be required to attend on-going training sessions and participate in service events.
