Twin Cities Housing Development - Saint Paul VISTA Program

The mission of TCHDC is to provide high quality affordable rental housing to families. The mission of the TCHDC Resource Centers is to strengthen the economic self-sufficiency of families and individuals, improve academic achievement and self-esteem among youth, and help residents develop the life skills necessary to become thriving members of society and a contributive part of the workforce. Many of the participants are from immigrant families. TCHDC's new youth program, TCHDC Realize, will offer high school students a space to explore their post-secondary options and equip them with the skills and resources they need to be successful as young adults. The VISTA will work to develop and strengthen partnerships that provide funding for the program and training opportunities for the collegiate leaders of TCHDC Realize. After school engagement of high school youth will be critical in helping students sharpen the hard and soft skills necessary to succeed as a young adult. TCHDC will be able to tangibly affect the success of students as young adults. The VISTA serving at Liberty Plaza will be integral in serving as a resource for students, families, and collegiate leaders, as they work together to overcome the achievement gap in Saint Paul and support youth development. **This VISTA position is sponsored by the Saint Paul VISTA Program. Hosted in Mayor Chris Coleman's Office, the Saint Paul VISTA Program is comprised of a city-wide cohort of individuals -- placed at community organizations and schools -- dedicated to shaping the educational landscape for youth and families in Saint Paul.**
